Full and partial domestic rewires
A typical 3-bed Tunbridge Wells rewire is 3–5 days on-site: one day to lift floors and chase walls, two days first-fix (running fresh 2.5mm² ring final circuits, 1.5mm² lighting, 6mm² shower, 10mm² cooker as needed), one day second-fix and certification. We segregate cables from gas and water by 150mm, install metal back boxes on solid walls, dual RCBO consumer units (one breaker per circuit, no shared RCD knock-outs), and full equipotential bonding to gas and water services.
Consumer unit (fuse board) upgrades
Replacing a rewireable or MCB-only board with a modern 18th Edition metal-clad RCBO consumer unit takes 4–6 hours, completed in a single visit. We isolate the supply with the DNO if needed, fit a surge protection device (SPD) as standard from 2022 regs, label every circuit clearly, and re-test the entire installation before re-energising. Certificate within 24 hours.
EICRs and remedial works
Electrical Installation Condition Reports are mandatory every 5 years on rented property and recommended every 10 years on owner-occupied. We carry out the full visual inspection plus dead and live testing across every circuit, coding faults C1 (danger present), C2 (potentially dangerous) and C3 (improvement recommended). C1 and C2 issues are quoted for remedial work the same day so landlords can stay compliant without missing tenancy deadlines.
EV chargers and PV / battery integration
7.4kW home chargers (Zappi, Ohme, Hypervolt, Wallbox) installed in 2–4 hours including dedicated 32A radial circuit, Type A or B RCD protection, separate earth electrode where TT supply requires, and DNO notification. We also tie in solar PV inverters and battery storage (GivEnergy, Tesla Powerwall, FoxESS) with proper isolation, AC and DC protection, and G99 / G100 notification to UK Power Networks.
Kitchens, bathrooms and outbuildings
Kitchen rewires include dedicated circuits for ovens, hobs, dishwashers, fridge-freezers and split-zone sockets to avoid nuisance tripping. Bathroom electrics are designed to BS 7671 Zone classifications, IP65 downlights in Zone 1, shaver sockets only where Zone 2 distances allow, SELV mirror lighting, and supplementary bonding where required. Outbuildings and garden offices get SWA armoured cable buried at 600mm, separate consumer units and full earthing arrangements.
